Introduction

Established in 1996, the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is the largest mathematics assessment organization in the UK, providing a wide range of nationally accredited mathematics assessments to over 700,000 students in more than 6,000 schools each year.

Mathematical Competition for Girls (UKMT-MCG) is one of the UKMT's series of assessments designed for girls to increase female participation in math assessments. The UKMT believes that the math competitions should not just be a game for boys and to encourage more girls to study math, it has created the MCG and MOG for girls in grades 10/year 11 and above. Currently over 5,000 students in the UK register for the UKMT-MCG each year, attracting more and more female students to participate.
