MathConceptition is organized by MathConcept, a renowned mathematical education brand based in Hong Kong, andco-organized by the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Society, with support from the Hong Kong Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools Council. Since its launch in 2016, the competition has attracted enthusiastic students across Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and other countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific, with its influence continuing to expand. Each year, approximately 12,000 students from more than 400 schools show their talent in the event. To date, nearly 70,000 students from around 9,000 schools have participated in the competition, making it one of the largest and most influential mathematics Olympiad challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.

Unlike traditional mathematics Olympiads that focus primarily on procedural problem-solving, MathConceptition is based onthe core philosophy that mathematics begins with thinking. Closely aligned with standard school curricula, the competition integrates foundational knowledge with advanced challenges to develop logical reasoning, analytical and judgement skills, spatial reasoning, and creative thinking—competencies essential for students thriving in an AI-driven future. Open to students from primary through high school, the competition features grade-specific divisions. Each level is precisely aligned with students’ cognitive development, ensuring that problems are both within reach and sufficiently challenging to stimulate potential. Awards are presented separately for each grade level, allowing every student to gain confidence and a sense of achievement on a stage best suited to their abilities.

Built upon the core mission of  “Connect Math with Concept”, the competition is closely aligned with the Hong KongEducation Bureau curriculum. Its carefully designed problems not only test students’ understanding and application of core math concepts such as number sense, basic geometry and typical applied problems, but also introduce classic higher-order thinking challenges including introductory number theory, combinatorics, and geometric puzzles. In addition, the competition has earned a strong reputation among many leading schools in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, including renowned institutions such as Diocesan Schools and St. Paul’s Schools. Building on this success, it has since expanded internationally, with participation from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, and beyond.

In 2026, ASEEDER partnered with MathConcept to officially introduce this premier Asia-Pacific mathematics competition. Outstanding performers in the Qualification Round will earn exclusive invitations to the Asia-Pacific Finals in Hong Kong, standing on a global stage alongside top talents from countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific.More than just a competition, the Asia-Pacific Finals provide an exceptional opportunity for students to showcase their mathematical excellence on a leading stage, broaden their global horizons and forge meaningful connections with international peers.
